a very thoughtful friend of mine gave me a 33 RPM, read along record of The Empire Strikes Back. Thank You. the last few minutes of side two skip in a few places, so i never really found out what happened to Han and Carrie Fisher, but i decided to make the best of this defect and turn it into something neat. New concept. We were fairly limited in our instrument selection for this session, so I decided to try something new. To choose from we had a clavanova, and drumset, and one amp to work with. The first round was guitar, clav and drums, so we each picked one and recorded... then rotate... record again... rotate... record again... rotate... and so on until 6 tracks were made. These are those.

they are not all perfect, but they each have their golden moments.

A friend came over to help me record a demo of a riff i've been working on. After hours of layering instruments over a simple guitar/drums mono track, i ended up with this loud, constantly building song that sounds like hundreds of cars rolling across the desert towards salvation. listen here... if your into that sort of thing.

There's also a special BONUS track that i made in about 20 mins after mixing on track one was complete. BONUS!

A Day Ahead of The Snow

NOISY SOUND RELAY second official release.

We recorded this short session two days ago. It snowed in Louisiana for the third time in my life one day ago. We must have caused this.

The first recording was cut short by angry neighbors, so this is basically two versions of the same song.

I recorded the bass track after it snowed, but i had only heard the full track once before.

I'm in the planning process of a very large information design project (Information Design examples) about an american singer songwriter (not going to say who) and i've been working on some ideas for visual representations of the data (yes... graphs). Here's the first of hopefully many to come.

This is a chart of Wilco's recording and album release schedule from 1994's "A.M." to the 2009 release "Wilco (the album)".

The colors used for each album are pulled from the general color of the cover art.

recently i put together a soundtrack for an art show put on by a local company called Hot Garbage. they make designer messenger bags out of completely found materials, but are not at designer prices.

the soundtrack consists of 3 brand new songs and 6 other demos that i've been working on for a while. this is mainly a solo project. enjoy.

in late December of 2008, my neighbor and i did some experiments with Holophonic recording. this is best experienced with headphones b/c the point is to create the feeling of a room or a space around you using only two speakers or sources. the listener should be able to tell from what direction all the sounds originate in a 3D setting... in your brain.
